Bond Proposal Presented at Huddle Time

Bond Proposal Presented at Huddle Time
Posted on 10/25/2018

Nacogdoches ISD interim Superintendent Alton Frailey held a Huddle Time Tuesday night at McMichael Middle School then joined a group of citizens that toured nearby Emeline Carpenter Elementary.

At the town hall-style meeting at McMichael, Frailey went through a presentation that outlined how the district arrived at the proposal now in front of voters.

Frailey then took questions from those in attendance before moving on to a tour of Carpenter Elementary, which would be replaced with a new school should voters approve the spending plan.

The recommendation made in August to NISD trustees by a facilities study committee calls for a new Carpenter to be built at another location with the existing attendance zone. Should the district be unable to secure acreage for a new school, then the campus would be rebuilt at the current site.

Regardless of the location, the new campus would retain Emeline Carpenter’s name.

Another public forum on the bond proposal is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Nacogdoches Medical Center. The meeting will take place in the third-floor classroom located in the Women’s Center.
